Literacy Enrichment Teacher and Coordinator - part-time (0.75 FTTE), fixed term (until end of 2025)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Literacy Enrichment Teacher and Coordinator to join our Learning Support team on a part-time, fixed-term basis for Terms 2–4 in 2025.

A willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to Bethlehem College shall be a condition of appointment.

About the Role
This role involves designing, delivering, and leading a targeted Literacy Enrichment Programme for Year 7 and 8 students. You will work collaboratively with the Learning Support and classroom teams to provide differentiated, engaging instruction tailored to students requiring additional support in spelling, reading fluency, and comprehension.

This is a key position within our Secondary Learning Support area, contributing to the College’s mission to see every student thrive through biblically grounded, high-quality education.

We are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has a clear sense of calling to Christian education
  • Holds a registered teaching qualification and a current practising certificate (essential)
  • Has experience in learning support or literacy enrichment
  • Demonstrates strong skills in differentiation and instructional design
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
  • Is willing to grow in te ao Māori and support the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the College’s special Christian character in all aspects of the role
  • Screen and identify learners based on assessment data and prior placement results
  • Develop and teach engaging, tailored literacy lessons in alignment with the NZ curriculum
  • Monitor and report on learner progress with clear improvement goals
  • Maintain regular communication with teachers, parents, and whānau
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Learning Support, SENCo, and Year 7–8 staff

 

Remuneration is in accordance with the Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement.

Position commences: Term 2 (start date tbc).

Administrator - part-time, permanent

We are seeking a highly organised and compassionate Administrator to provide administrative assistance to the Head of Counselling, managing records, scheduling appointments, liaising with students, families, and staff, and coordinating wellbeing and other initiatives. Hours are part-time, 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 12:30, 40 weeks per year.

The ideal candidate will have strong administrative and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience handling confidential and sensitive information with professionalism. You will be very proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management, with the ability to track referrals, maintain student records, and support reporting. Experience in school administration, counselling support, or pastoral care is preferred. Additionally, you should be a clear communicator, able to engage with students, families, and external agencies with empathy and discretion. A heart for student wellbeing, strong time management, and the ability to coordinate events, workshops, and faith-based mental health initiatives are essential.

Remuneration: $28.89 per hour (Grade 2, Step 4) as per the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement
